How NOT to do Content Marketing to increase Customer Engagement
Do you ever ‘cold pitch’ someone to share your article? or Has someone ‘cold pitched’ you? I’m not referring to the blatant spam guest post requests most bloggers get. I’m talking about the random out of the blue requests you receive from people you’ve never talked to. Here’s an example:
“Hey, thanks for Retweeting my post. I wrote this other awesome post about a similar topic would you share it too?”
Amy Vernon for Inc.com wrote a great little piece about how companies (or those representing the companies) using this technique are doing it ALL wrong.
She explains it perfectly below:
I’ve said it before — that’s like seeing two people talking about something at a cocktail party and barging in and pushing your product in their face and saying, “BUY MY THING. I HEARD YOU TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE MY THING, NOW BUY MINE.”
