Example Marketing Campaign: Lush Cosmetics
Their standard campaign is Fighting Animal Testing. Throughout the year, other campaigns are highlighted. The whole community of Lush (fans and employees) get involved. What I learned from observing Lush on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram:
Tips for an effective Campaign
- Use a time limit
- Utilize #hashtag (ex. #signoflove campaign)
- Pre-plan content
- Discount or have a special product specific to the campaign (ex. shark fin soap)
- Educate employees on new products and campaigns frequently
- Encourage sharing from customers which helps catapult it into virility
- Track statistics
- Have a purpose and an end goal
- Report the outcome
Every dollar you set aside for marketing should return a profit. Here are a few budget-friendly options:
- Facebook Ads
- Flyer distribution (Fiverr $5) Yes, someone will distribute these for you. Usually, they are on/near college campuses.
- Twitter Ads
- Pinterest Ads
- Blog Ads or Sponsored posts (local bloggers)
- Press Release (Hire someone on Fiverr to write it and send it to your local Media)
- Local News feature (call or email the contact person for local news stories) - I actually did this when I had a little soap selling direct sales business. I was featured on the evening news. 🙂
- Local mailing campaigns
